PASADENA, CA — Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger has endorsed Geoff Baum for the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees, adding her support to his campaign to return to the board in the November 3 election.
Barger, who represents the county’s Fifth Supervisorial District, has devoted more than 35 years to public service. Since her election to the Board of Supervisors in 2016, she has been a leading advocate for Pasadena, La Cañada Flintridge and the greater San Gabriel Valley, with particular attention to public safety, mental health, homelessness, and the needs of individual residents.
Following the devastating Eaton Fire in January 2025, Barger has led efforts to help Altadena residents recover and rebuild, including creating the Altadena Recovery and Rebuild Corporation (ARRC) and a new financing district to support the restoration of critical community infrastructure.
“Kathryn Barger has devoted her career to serving the people of Los Angeles County, and her commitment to our communities is evident in everything she does,” said Baum. “She understands that public service begins with listening to people, understanding their needs, and following through. Whether helping a family navigate county services or leading the recovery from the Eaton Fire, Supervisor Barger never loses sight of the individuals affected by government decisions. I have enormous respect for her leadership and am honored to have her support.”
Baum, who previously served three terms on the PCC Board of Trustees and twice as president of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, said the partnership between the college and county government will be especially important as the region continues recovering from the Eaton Fire.
“Rebuilding our community will take years, and Pasadena City College has an important responsibility,” Baum said. “We need skilled construction workers, electricians, technicians, first responders, and other professionals to help families return home and restore our neighborhoods. PCC can prepare local residents for those careers while helping rebuild the community they call home.”
PCC has already begun expanding its construction trades training programs in response to the fire, including developing a new Construction Trades Lab. Baum has made expanding workforce education, improving student access and affordability, and ensuring accountability for the college’s voter-approved bond program central priorities of his campaign.
“Supervisor Barger understands that rebuilding is ultimately about people and families,” Baum added. “I look forward to working with her and other county leaders to connect PCC students with good jobs, support families still recovering from the fire, and help our communities come back stronger.”
October 25 Reception in Pasadena
Supervisor Barger will be the featured guest at a campaign reception for Baum on Sunday, October 25, at 5 p.m., hosted by Liz and Andy Wilson at their home in Pasadena’s Madison Heights neighborhood.
