Pasadena City Councilmember Steve Madison Endorses Geoff Baum for PCC Board

PASADENA, Calif. — Pasadena City Councilmember Steve Madison, the longest-serving Councilmember in the City’s history, has endorsed Geoff Baum for Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees, Area 1.

Madison has represented District 6 since 1999, including West Pasadena, the neighborhoods surrounding the Rose Bowl, much of Old Pasadena and the Arroyo Seco. On Sept. 1, he surpassed a Pasadena City Council service record that had stood since 1959. All of City Council District 6 falls within PCC Board of Trustees Area 1.

“Geoff Baum and I have worked closely together on a wide variety of issues that matter to West Pasadena and the City as a whole,” Madison said. “I have seen him put in the time, listen to neighbors and stay with difficult problems until the work is done. He also knows Pasadena City College from his prior service on its Board of Trustees and at the state level. PCC needs trustees who understand both the college and the communities it serves, and Geoff brings that experience and the mature wisdom and judgement he has as a result, to the job. I am extremely proud to endorse him.”

Madison and Baum were both active in the decades-long effort to stop the proposed 710 Freeway extension through Pasadena. Madison authored the City Council’s 2000 resolution opposing the extension, while Baum served on the city’s 710 Freeway Alternatives Advisory Group. Baum also served as Madison’s appointee to the Pasadena Community Access Corporation Board and the Pasadena Redistricting Commission. Their work together has included issues involving the Rose Bowl, West Pasadena neighborhoods and City government.

“Steve Madison has been an extraordinary advocate for our community and one of the most effective public servants our city has known,” Baum said. “For more than two decades, he has brought unparalleled intellect, independence and persistence to public service. We have stood together on some of the biggest issues facing West Pasadena, from stopping the 710 extension to protecting the neighborhoods around the Rose Bowl. Steve knows my record at PCC and in the community, and I am honored to have his support.”

Baum previously represented Area 1 on the PCC Board of Trustees for 12 years, including two terms as board president. He later served on the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, twice serving as its president.

Madison will also join Baum for an upcoming community conversation about Pasadena City College, part of a series examining PCC’s role in education, workforce preparation and the region’s recovery and rebuilding. The conversations will bring local leaders and residents together to discuss what the community needs from the college in the years ahead. Additional details will be announced soon.

The PCC Board of Trustees election is nonpartisan. Area 1 includes Pasadena neighborhoods that include Linda Vista, San Rafael, South Orange Grove, Old Pasadena, the Playhouse District, Madison Heights, and the City of La Cañada Flintridge. The election is November 3, 2026, with mail-in ballots set to go out in early October.
